Jan. 29th - Funeral for Capt. Sean Lyerly, Fallen Pflugerville Warrior
Funeral Services are at Noon on Monday, Jan. 29th, at St. Elizabeth's Church at 1520 N. Railroad Ave and public is welcome. Graveside services will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Some residents are planning to line up near the end of the procession holding flags to show their respect and show community support.
Jan. 29th - Texas Forums Open House
Being held at the LBJ Library on January 29th from 6pm-8 pm in 10th floor Brown room (2313 Red River in Austin). We want to help you keep your New Year's resolution to get more involved in your community, to volunteer, to expand your horizon, to get up to speed with all of that confusing new technology, and to satisfy your curiousity about Texas Forums.

Jan. 31st - Input Needed for Zoning and Site Development Code Revisions
On Wednesday, Jan. 31st, at 7pm at the Pfugerville Justice Center Courtroom, located at 1611 E. Pfennig Ln, the City of Pflugerville is seeking your input. The city planning staff has been working to modify the zoning code to address a number of issues. In doing so, the site development code is being merged into the zoning code and the revision process is nearly complete, but not without your valued input. Staff has presented the proposed modifications to PfCONA and to targeted neighborhoods that are proximate to recent rezoning requests, however, the City would like for everyone in the Pflugerville community to have an opportunity to provide input and ask questions of staff. To be held every second Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Justice Center at 1611 E. Pfennig Ln. Will include PfCONA Executive Committee elections and 2006 activities review/evaluation and 2007 direction/scope of work and calendar. Nominating committee recommendations include: Pat McCord, PfCONA Chair; Angel Hernandez (Vice Chair); and Ellen Bailey (Secretary/Treasurer). Other board member positions up for appointment include: Communication Chair (Clay Leben seeks reappointment); Safety Chair (Chris Carmon seeks reappointment); Membership Services (volunteer sought); and Special Events (volunteer sought). Consideration begin given to additional co-vice chair and co-secretary/treasurer.

Feb. 15-18 - National Conference on Civic Engagement
Public is invited to a National Conference on Civic Engagement on Thursday, Feb. 15, through Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Austin Marriott at the Capitol, 701 East 11th St .
The event will be co-hosted by Texas Campus Compact and UT-Austin. St. Edward's University is a member institution of Texas Campus Compact, a non-profit organization supporting service-learning and civic engagement in more than 50 colleges and universities in Texas.

Feb. 17th - Revolution Soccer Club Winter Golf Classic

Mar. 29-31 - SmartCode Workshop
This event, being brought to Austin by PlaceMakers, is an opportunity to join planners, architects, developers, elected officials and citizens to learn how to implement practical solutions for quality livability. Through a series of presentations, exercises, and discussions, participants will gain a thorough understanding of the SmartCode's value and potential impact, and be provided a wealth of working knowledge to ensure successful implementation at the local level. Accident Reports Available Online
The Pflugerville Police Departent announces that accident reports are now available online. Beginning 1/9/07 the public may access accident reports taken starting in the year 2007. Reports are available in two to three business days after submission by the officer to Central Records. The public will be required to pay a $6.00 fee online for the accident report. New Book Tells Pflugerville History
The Friends of the Pflugerville Community Library celebrated the release of the Heritage Society's new book, Dec. 10. Pflugerville: A Heritage to Remember is an oral history of long time residents of Pflugerville compiled by the Friends of the Pflugerville Community Library in partnership with the Heritage House Partners, city of Pflugerville, Pflugerville Community Library, Pflugerville Genealogy Society. The various storytellers who were interviewed for the book were on hand to sign the book and visit.
Four hundred copies were printed and are sold out. However, the library is taking applications from anyone who wants to order one if they are able to print more. The library is located at 102 10th St. For more information, call 251-9185. [Source: Community Impact Newspaper]

The Deutschen Pfest committe is soliciting art work for the upcoming 2007 T-shirt for he 32nd annual Deutschen Pfest They are seeking two designs: an adult Pfest shirt and a children's Pfest shirt. The winners of five award categories will be selected by a jury made up of recognized experts from around the country and their decisions will be based on how the projects exemplify or reflect some or all of the seven elements of the Envision Central Texas vision. the W. Neal Kocurek Award winner will be selected by a local panel. The awards will be presented at the 2nd annual ECT Community Stewardship Awards Luncheon on May 18th at the Hilton Austin.
